    Chapter 34

    —Trrrrrr

A shrill ringing scraped at Noah’s ears, forcing his eyelids — stuck heavy and wet — to flutter open. They felt strange, stiff, and when he blinked, he realized tears and sleep crust clung thick around them. He rubbed his eyes clumsily and reached toward the source of the sound.

His fingers brushed something sitting on the bedside table. Still unable to see clearly, he groped blindly — and knocked the object over. A coiled cord dangled in the air.

Guest, your time’s up. Will you be extending? For room-hour stays we—

A voice came from the device attached to the cord. Noah realized belatedly it resembled Gu Taeheon’s “mobile phone.” He lifted the receiver politely with both hands.

“I— cough, I’m sorry. I will leave shortly.”

Then you’ll need to come out within five minutes, okay?

    Five minutes?

A troubled expression flickered over Noah’s face. He had just woken; even if he rushed to dress and leave, five minutes seemed impossible. Yet he had no money to extend the room.

Just as a faintly irritated voice on the other end continued, a hand reached from behind and plucked the receiver from Noah’s grasp.

“We’ll extend. I’ll pay extra outside.”

    Clack.

Without waiting for a reply, Taeheon hung up. The ringing stopped, silence settling over the room.

Noah first wiped his face, trying to sit up. His eyes were a mess from how much he had cried last night. As he rubbed them, Taeheon reached out.

    “Noah.”

    “…Yes?”

    “Does it hurt?”

Like handling something fragile, Taeheon cupped Noah’s cheek and eye area. Then he leaned close — too close — and blew a quick, firm breath across Noah’s eyes.

To Noah as a priest, it meant nothing, yet Taeheon’s earnest expression made his heart skip. Strangely, the cool breath did feel like it helped a little. Noah flushed, meeting his gaze.

“Want me to do it again?”

    “N-No, it’s fine.”

    “Alright.”

Silence returned. Noah considered getting up — then froze. Beneath the blanket, they were both completely bare. If he stood, his body would be exposed to Taeheon again.

    He hesitated — and then—

    “…I’ll go wash.”

Taeheon spoke in a low, steady voice. He rose naturally and walked to the bathroom. Noah felt his gaze lingering on Taeheon’s back until the door shut.

Once inside, Taeheon dropped the facade. The moment the door clicked, he rushed under the shower.

    Shhhh—

Cold water crashed onto him. Hands buried in his hair, he lifted his face slowly, staring into the small mirror under the showerhead.

    “…Fuck.”

His face, neck, everything was flushed. Eyes bloodshot from a night without rest. He slapped his cheek hard.

    “You idiot… monstrous piece of—”

He cursed himself over and over.

Last night, he hadn’t had sex with Noah — he had devoured him.

He regained clarity near dawn. Worst part: even when sanity returned, he had still been using Noah, who had already passed out.

    ‘Ta… eheh… Taeheon…’

    Yeah, Noah… love you…

Half-conscious Noah had whispered his name, and Taeheon — deaf to everything but instinct — kept taking him. His memory was fragmented, but he remembered Noah begging “stop, it’ll tear” and still restraining him.

When Taeheon finally came to, Noah was limp, exhausted, covered in fluids, barely reacting. He bathed him, horrified at the bite marks, bruises, the faint scratches from Noah’s nails on his own back — and so many more on Noah.

Noah awoke only once as he carried him to bed.

    ‘Taeheon-nim…’

    ‘…’

    ‘…Are you… alright?’

Even injured, Noah had asked if he was okay. Not blaming him — concerned for him.

That single moment struck straight through Taeheon’s chest.

    ‘Did… I help you?’

Then Noah collapsed again, pained whimpers escaping as he slept. Taeheon sat up the entire night, tending to him, drowning in self-disgust.

“I fell asleep afterwards? What kind of trash— haah.”

He slapped water off his face again.

And now — now he had to face Noah and apologize. Promise responsibility. Protect him.

    He dressed and stepped out—

    And froze.

    “A-ah, Taeheon-nim. You finished washing?”

The room was spotless. Everything thrown around last night was back in place. The bed was neatly made, extra pillows stacked. Noah stood dressed, smiling politely.

Taeheon walked toward him stiffly. Noah spoke calmly:

“I prayed to the god Aír while cleaning.”

“Noah, I… how is your— your body?”

Last night Noah had writhed in pain, his waist especially. Taeheon had massaged him desperately. But now—

Noah rolled his shoulders, neck, hips, testing his body. He blinked slowly, serene.

“Well — while you washed, I completed recovery and fatigue removal. There are still some minor marks…”
    He touched his neck lightly.
“But they refuse to disappear, strangely. Still, I feel no pain.”

    “…You healed yourself?”

    “Yes.”

He answered like it was only natural.

“I checked my body was in terrible condition. So, I healed it.”

    Taeheon’s mouth hung open.

“And in case Taeheon-nim worried — I am truly fine. As for last night…”

    His gentle expression didn’t waver.

“I hold no distress in my heart.”

    Completely fine?

Impossible. Taeheon had never released heat properly since his leg injury. He had suppressed it for years, stacking rut inside his body. Last night, all that pent-up instinct had burst — and Noah was a Beta.

He remembered Noah pleading, “Stop, it’ll tear.”

“What… do you mean you’re fine?”

Taeheon strode up, gripping Noah’s arms.

“You’re saying you’re okay? I forced you — I hurt you — I made you suffer. And you’re saying all of that is fine?”

“Yes, Taeheon-nim. I am alright. Last night was, that is…”

Noah glanced aside shyly, unable to meet his gaze.

    “…simply treatment.”

Noding (Knotting) — In Omegaverse lore, an Alpha’s organ swells after climax, locking them to the partner temporarily; can be traumatic for non-Omega partners.
